Q. Before I book an event I would like to come by and see the space. Is this possible? Of course you are welcome to by any time we are open to see the space and we can show you around.
If you cancel at least 14 days prior to the start of classes: Your payment will be refunded in full.
If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled class: We will issue you a credit towards a future class. No refunds will be issued.
If you cancel less than 7 days before the class: No refunds, transfers, gift cards or credits will be issued for cancellations within seven calendar days of the class date. We cannot provide refunds, transfers, or makeup sessions for classes missed because of illness, job loss, personal emergencies or events beyond our control.
Q. What is the Cooking Canvas cancellation policy?
Special events (private parties, team building, birthday parties or custom workshops) When you reserve our kitchen for an event, a $100 deposit is required at the time the reservation is made. If you cancel at least 30 days prior to the party, your payment will be refunded. If you cancel within 30 days of the party, all monies paid will be forfeited unless the kitchen is booked for another event.
Summer camps When you reserve a spot in summer camp, a $100 deposit is required at the time the reservation is made. If you cancel at least 30 days prior to the start of camp, your payment will be refunded in full. If you cancel within 30 days of the start of camp, and we can fill your seat we will also refund you in full. However if you cancel within 30 days and we cannot fill your seat your payment will be forfeited.
Classes and workshops Cooking classes are like theater tickets: the show must go on, so we encourage you to send a substitute if you are unable to attend. When you reserve a spot for a cooking class, full payment is required at the time the reservation is made. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.
Cooking Canvas cancels a class If Cooking Canvas cancels a class due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances you will have the choice of receiving a refund or a credit for that particular day towards other offerings. If a class is canceled, we will make every attempt to notify you by phone or email using the information you provided to us upon registration. We encourage you to check your email. If we do choose to notify everyone via phone and we are not able to speak with you in person, we will leave a message. We will assume that you listen to your phone messages on a regular basis.
Weather related cancellations We will make a determination no later than 2 hours prior to a class and in the event of a cancellation of a class due to inclement weather, we will make every attempt to notify you by phone or email using the information you provided to us upon registration. We encourage you to check your email. If we do choose to notify everyone via phone and we are not able to speak with you in person, we will leave a message. We will assume that you listen to your phone messages on a regular basis. We encourage you to call us if you are in doubt. Unless you hear from us either via email or phone based on the information provided to us at registration, the class will be held.
Q. Are gift certificates refundable? Gift certificate purchases are final purchases and are not refundable.
Q. Do you have parking? Yes, we have plenty of parking.
Q. What should I wear to my class? We recommend that students wear closed-toe shoes to class and to dress appropriately for a cooking environment. Open-toed shoes, and flip flops are not allowed to be worn during class. We will provide an apron during the cooking class.
Q. Are your classes hands-on? All of the classes both for adults as well as kids at Cooking Canvas are hands-on cooking unless it is noted in the class description as a demo class. You will be preparing your own recipes and dishes and unless it is a party, where you will be dining here, all of the delicious food you prepare will be packed up in take out containers and sent home with you to share with your family and friends.
Q. My child has food allergies or religious dietary restrictions, can you make substitutions or omit items?
Nut Allergies Cooking Canvas is not a nut free facility. Any nuts that are on site are stored in enclosed containers. All pans, pots, bowls, etc are run through our ware washing machine which reaches sanitizing temperatures during the cycle. In the classes most recipes we select allow the option of including or excluding nuts and we set up for each child accordingly. For the birthday parties NONE of the recipes include nuts.
Other food allergies or religious dietary restrictions We also try to accommodate children with other allergies like milk allergies, sesame, soy, etc. As long as you let the Cooking Canvas staff know when you register your child that there are food allergies or dietary restrictions like no pork or no shellfish we will always try to find a substitution for the student unless the recipe restricts it. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you indicate these issues when you register in the Comments/More Information field during the last step of the registration process. Call us at 708-999-9999 to discuss any of these issues further.
Q. What is your Sick Policy? For the health and safety of our students and staff, we ask that you not send your child to class if he/she has or had a fever or diarrhea in the past 24 hours, has an active cough and/or frequently needs to blow their nose.
Q. What if I'm late picking up my child? We ask that you please be prompt in picking up your child from all classes and activities at Cooking Canvas. We understand that emergencies can happen so please contact us immediately if you anticipate being late with your pickup. If you are more than 15 minutes late to pick up from the end of the class/event, you will then be charged $1.00 per minute payable at time of pickup. Thank you for understanding this important policy.
Q. What is your Behavior and Disciplinary Policy? Our Cooking Canvas instructors want to ensure that each child has a fun and rewarding cooking experience! If a child in attendance at any time is requiring an unreasonable amount of discipline due to disruptive behavior, the child will be removed from the class and the parent or guardian will be contacted. No refunds will be provided.
Q. Do you offer any special discounts? We do offer special discounts and promotions from time to time and plan to communicate them on this website, on our Facebook page and other social media sites. In addition, we do offer a special discount for military personnel, veterans and their immediate family members (Identification required). Q. Do you sell gift certificates? Yes! We offer gift certificates in a wide variety of denominations. We are also excited to be offering the sale of gift certificates online with the ability for you to either print or send a customized e-mail to the recipient. The recipient can then print the certificate which has a unique code and bring it into our location, redeem online or or you can give us a call at (708) 922-1000 and we will be happy to help you redeem it over the phone. Please be advised that gift certificates are cannot be used towards birthday parties or group events.
